WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Submissions that move the field forward.
LDACON brings together the LD community to share research, strategies, and lived experience. We are especially interested in submissions addressing the intersection of specific learning disabilities with language, culture, and economic disadvantage, as well as transitioning to adulthood and supporting individuals with SLD in postsecondary education and the workplace.
The selection committee prioritizes submissions that address social justice, equity, ableism, and culturally relevant practices. LDA's mission is to serve all individuals with learning disabilities.
SESSION FORMATS
Four ways to share your work.
Lecture
Classroom-style seating with standard AV. 50 minutes with time for audience questions. Rooms seat 25 to 100 attendees.
Panel Discussion
A group of 3 to 5 experts discussing a particular topic and taking questions from the audience.
Workshop
Hands-on, participatory sessions with structured activities. 90 minutes. Best suited for skill-building, strategy practice, or collaborative problem-solving.
Poster Session
Visual displays on poster boards presented simultaneously during a single 60-minute session. Attendees rotate through and discuss work directly with presenters. Great for sharing research findings and early-stage work.
CONTENT STRANDS
Submit under one of our three strands.
Law, Policy & Advocacy
Sessions focused on disability rights, individual advocacy, and public policy. Topics include IDEA and 504, workplace accommodations, school discipline, post-secondary issues, and career and technical education.
Ideas for the Classroom to Implement NOW
Practical, evidence-based strategies that educators can implement immediately. Typically presented by teachers, interventionists, school psychologists, SLPs, and other education service providers.
Research to Practice
Sessions presenting research studies and their implications for practice. Includes published and unpublished research by academic researchers and practitioners, concluding with actionable takeaways for improving outcomes for individuals with SLD.
